Payfuture brings local Indian payment methods to Shopify merchants

Payfuture has launched a new integration with Shopify, giving merchants seamless access to local payment methods in India’s rapidly expanding ecommerce market and helping international businesses better serve local consumers.

Merchants using Shopify can now enable widely used Indian payment options, including Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and NetBanking, through a single connection with Payfuture’s payment application, simplifying payment acceptance while supporting local customer preferences.

India remains one of the world’s most significant ecommerce markets, with online retail forecast to reach between US$150 billion and US$170 billion by 2027. Mobile-first shopping habits and growing consumer confidence in domestic payment systems continue to accelerate digital commerce across India and wider South Asia. As the market matures, payment localisation, regulatory compliance and platform readiness are becoming increasingly important competitive advantages.

“This integration makes digital commerce more accessible, scalable and locally optimised for global merchants in fast-growth markets,” said Manpreet Haer, CEO and Co-Founder, Payfuture. “India is a vital market for ecommerce growth – and our infrastructure makes it easier for merchants to reach local buyers while maintaining compliance and operational efficiency.”

The launch builds on Payfuture’s wider strategy of delivering local payment connectivity through major ecommerce platforms. The company continues investing in infrastructure and regional capabilities to support merchants expanding into India and other high-growth markets.

“Our role is to help global merchants operate like locals in markets that are often difficult to access,” said Haer. “The Shopify integration brings that vision to one of the world’s leading commerce ecosystems.”
